Orthopedic surgeon Georgios Basdekis, MD, PhD, graduated from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in 1996. He obtained his orthopedic specialty title in 2005 and completed a two-year fellowship in sports injuries and arthroscopy of all joints in France, where he carried out both surgical and scientific work.

He subsequently worked as a Consultant at the University Hospital of Larissa for six years. He collaborates with private clinics, performing surgical procedures on both athletes and non-athletes, including arthroscopies of the knee, shoulder, and ankle, hip arthroplasty using the AMIS technique, knee arthroplasty with MIS navigation, fracture management, and more.

He holds a PhD from the University of Thessaly. He is a member of ESSKA (European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy), ISAKOS (International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine), ICRS (International Cartilage Regeneration & Joint Preservation Society), and the Hellenic Arthroscopic Society “Georgios Noulis.”

Since 2005, he has served as head physician for professional football teams and as a consulting orthopedic surgeon for various football, basketball, and volleyball teams. He has been the head physician of the football club AEL 1964 (Larissa) for over 10 consecutive years.

He is actively involved in evaluation, clinical assessment, and rehabilitation (The Medical Project). His private practice is equipped with portable diagnostic ultrasound systems, a GNRB Rotab device for computerized evaluation of knee rotational instability, and GYMNA transdermal electrotherapy equipment (he is also a certified trainer) for the immediate treatment of tendinitis, tendinopathy, and muscle injuries. Since 2009, he has also been using PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapies, with specialized equipment including a horizontal centrifuge and an advanced platelet activator from Australia for safe and effective results.

Over the past 20 years, he has authored chapters in three Sports Medicine and Orthopedics books, published 24 papers in reputable scientific journals, and delivered more than 100 presentations and lectures as an invited speaker at Greek and international conferences. His areas of expertise include anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction, meniscus repair, cartilage injuries, arthroscopy, and sports injuries.
