Presentation on the first day: Maintaining Principles Through Tactical Adaptation

The presentation analyzes the decision-making process behind changing our team’s formation, with the aim of improving competitive balance without losing the core principles of our style of play. The initial structure did not fully suit the characteristics of the squad, as there were limitations in wide areas and the team was conceding chances, mainly from flank situations and attacking transitions.

The change was implemented for the first time in a demanding match against Aris, an opponent with a strong presence in wide areas, highlighting the need for better defensive balance and space coverage. The transition to a back three provided greater stability, better management of transitions, and more effective build-up play from the back.

At the same time, the characteristics of the players—especially the central defenders—were more suited to the new structure, while the absence of traditional wingers led to clearer roles and more defined positioning, with fewer demands for off-the-ball movements.

Despite the change, the team’s core principles remained constant: organization, spacing, control of tempo, and balance between defense and attack. The presentation highlights the importance of adaptability and maintaining the team’s playing identity, regardless of formation.
