Dr. Brian P. McCullough is Associate Professor at Texas A&M University. His research focuses on the bidirectional relationship between sport and the natural environment in a subdiscipline of sport management called sport ecology. He has written over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters, edited two books, authored one book, and presented his research over 100 times at national and international conferences. In addition, Dr. McCullough developed and assisted in the creation of the United Nation’s Sport for Climate Action Framework.
This keynote will introduce the concept of environmental sustainability related to the sport industry—specifically, the values of why sport managers should implement such initiatives. Further, the talk will highlight the environmental, social, and economic benefits of implementing environmental initiatives. Finally, the keynote will introduce ways that sport managers can implement and advance environmental sustainability efforts within their organizations by involving internal and external stakeholders for meaningful change.
