Orthopedic Surgeon MD, PhD | Director of Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, Athens Medical Center

Andreas Piskopakis is an Orthopedic Surgeon and Director of the Sports Injuries Orthopedic Clinic at the Athens Medical Center, specializing in sports medicine, athletic injuries, and modern rehabilitation techniques.

He graduated with honors from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Foggia (Italy) and completed his Orthopedics & Traumatology residency at KAT Hospital in Athens. He holds a PhD from the University of Ioannina, with research focusing on anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) graft integration.

He has extensive international training, including specialization in arthroscopic shoulder surgery at Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan. He also completed advanced fellowship training in the United States under Professor Tom Minas of Harvard Medical School, focusing on cartilage repair techniques and personalized knee surgery approaches.

Since 2022, he has collaborated in research with the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute of the University of Bologna on meniscus transplantation and preservation techniques.

In professional sports, he has served as Head of the Medical Team of Olympiacos FC, acting as the team’s Head Doctor during their historic UEFA Europa Conference League victory in 2024, one of the most significant achievements in Greek club football history.

He is currently Head Physician for Atromitos FC, Iraklis FC, and Peristeri BC, and is an active member of leading international scientific organizations including ISAKOS, ICRS, and ESSKA.

He provides consultation and care for professional and amateur athletes in Greece and abroad, applying modern practices in prevention, rehabilitation, and return-to-play protocols.
