Donald Gillies
Donald is the current Technical Director of the youth club partner of Major League Soccer Club, Colorado Rapids.
The Youth Club provides a community and player development experience for members in Colorado spanning 100 miles of the Rockies Front Range, giving a home to some 12,500 members annually.
Donald came to the US from Scotland in 2019, where he served as Head of Girls’ and Women’s Football, culminating in significant growth and development of the game in the country at grassroots level, and Scotland’s Women’s National Team qualification to their first ever major tournaments at the 2017 UEFA Women’s Euro, and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
A UEFA A-License holder, an alumni of the UEFA Certificate in Football Manager program delivered by the University of Lausanne, he has worked in football development for 22 years in various capacities including spells at Rangers FC.
He is now responsible for the strategic management and development of all technical matters within Colorado Rapids Youth Soccer Club, from grassroots to elite player development, including Coach Education, player pathways, recruitment, and methodologies and curriculums.
