Paraskevas is the 1st Team Strength & Conditioning Coach of Rangers Football Club. He holds an MSc degree in Strength & Conditioning from the University of Edinburgh, and he is currently certified with the CSCS certification from NSCA. This season will be his 5th season at the Rangers FC, assisting with the on-field success the club has experienced in recent years.
"Improving the on-field success with off-pitch, gym-based strategies. Importance of a High-Performance Department within elite football"
The presentation will focus on the importance of implementing off-field strategies, mainly gym-based, in order to maximize training and match availability, as well as improve physical performance. Creating a culture where players are educated and encouraged to participate in these types of activities is vital for on-field success. Relationship between the football management staff (head coach-manager, assistant coaches) and sport science staff is key. Goal setting/ targets should be set according to:
- coaches’ style of play
- physical demands of the league
- objective data collection
- prior injuries experienced
- subjective feedback from the player.
