Vasilis Armatas

Vasilis Armatas has been the Lead Academy Match Analyst at Olympiacos FC Academy since 2019.

Vasilis holds a BSc and a MSc degree in Sport Science from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and a PhD degree in Match Analysis from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He is a Group Member of the Sports Analytics Group at the Athens University of Economics and Business and serves as academic staff at Athens Metropolitan College, where he teaches.

His contributions to the field include co-authoring the book titled "Set pieces in soccer" by Sportbook Publications, authoring over 40 scientific papers on match analysis, and delivering over 70 scientific presentations at various congresses. Furthermore, he is a Level 4 Accredited Performance Analyst from “The International Society of Performance Analysis of Sport” and has been invited as a topic editor, journal's editorial member, and reviewer in various scientific journals.

Holding a UEFA A Coach license, Vasilis has worked as an analyst and scout for various first-team Greek football clubs since 2010. His experience includes roles at Panionios, Panthrakikos, Panathinaikos, and AEK Athens, where he contributed to teams competing in the Europa and Champions League. He has collaborated with esteemed head coaches such as M. Stahre, A. Mantzios, T. Lemonis, Y. Anastasiou, A. Stramaccioni, and M. Ouzounidis.
